Other stuff by The Brooklyn What

THE GENTRIFICATION ROCK EP is the latest release from THE BROOKLYN WHAT, consisting of two previously unreleased studio recordings, one cover, and two live tracks. It represents the more confrontational side of the group, and previews the music that will appear on the Brooklyn What's next full length release.

Given our concerns for the future of our borough, we are offering this EP as a fundraiser for Develop Dont Destroy Brooklyn, to support their efforts in fighting Bruce Ratner's ridiculous Atlantic Yards project. For those who do not know about this crucial legal battle, we recommend a look at DDDB's website. Briefly put, it is a plan to demolish part of a neighborhood to build a sports arena, office tower, and condos for rich people. It makes use of eminent domain and large amounts of public subsidies to give land to a private developer at less than it's actual value. When the economy was good this meant instant gentrification. In the current economy it means propping up a bad idea and a greedy developer with badly needed public money.
